-install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. -test,
adjust and troubleshoot electronic components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and
antennas. Know how to load, update and modify software.
-use your knowledge of radio frequencies (RF), electronic theory and
circuitry to address a variety of technical problems.
-Make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to
accurately achieve assignments and compose a detailed service report.
Types of equipment serviced:
Radars, ECDIS, Satcoms, HF and VHF Radios, GPS, Gyrocompasses, Autopilots, Sounders
·3+ years of experience as a MSE, MET or ET in commercial shipping
·Diploma in Electronics or equivalent technical education, training, and
·Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application
·Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement preferred.
·GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred
·Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 20-40 lbs,
climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
·Driver’s license preferred.
